Living Cure Testimonials

As a hospice social worker, my hope is to help patients transition out of this life with as much support, comfort and grace as is possible. Leaving this world can be no less arduous and emotionally laden than entering it at birth. Often, unfinished business, old hurts and fears, rear their head, begging to be resolved before it's too late.

In these tumultouous transitional states, I have found an analytical approach is often unhelpful. Recently, I have had the opportunity to work in collaboration with Janie Piano, a hospice RN with training in energy balancing work. In each case, energy work allowed my patient to relax into a state of deep relaxation and peace, enabling essential shifts to take place. These shifts included mending relationships with others, greater acceptance of one's physical decline and for some, a feeling of deeper connection to their God.

I work in relatively traditional communities, with mostly elderly patients one wouldn't expect to necessarily be receptive to this work. Janie has an easy way with patients, relating to each with warmth and acceptance. She meets people where they stand, never pushing, and they respond to her gentleness and humor. This work is also particularly powerful with actively dying patients.

This energy work is a gift to anyone blessed enough to receive it. I hope, you too, have the chance to see this gentle, but powerful technique in action.

Sincerely,
Susan James, MSW
